About WHRD-IC:
The Women Human Rights Defenders International Coalition (WHRD-IC) is a transnational, intersectional feminist coalition of women human rights defenders, feminists, trans and non-binary activists and organisations, and their allies. Our mission is to deepen and sustain the collective power and resistance of WHRDs and their collective organising, across the intersections of movements, issues and regions.
Since our inception in 2005, we have built a membership primarily of womenâs, human rights and sexual rights groups. Currently, we are composed of over 30 organisations from the global South and North. Our members work locally, nationally, regionally and transnationally, on a range of different rights and justice issues, as part of different movements.
Purpose of consultancy:
The WHRD-IC is seeking a Resource Mobilisation consultant to lead its resource mobilisation activities, including donor mapping, donor relationship building, strengthening resource mobilisation strategies and supporting with proposal writing.
Scope of work:
Donor mapping
- Identify key and prospective funders aligned with WHRD-ICâs 2025-2030 Strategic Framework
- Explore potential funding opportunities that match the WHRD-ICâs global, regional and local work, values and ethics
- Organise and share insights on funders, funding priorities and opportunities with the Resource Mobilisation Working Group
- Track and maintain donor contacts, correspondence, meetings and funding prospects
Donor relationship building
- Ensure the development, maintenance and strengthening of quality relationships with existing, and prospective donors
- As necessary, represent WHRD-IC in virtual and in-person meetings with donors
- As necessary, engage with partners that can support the WHRD-IC resource mobilisation efforts
Strengthening and strategic support
- Provide guidance on proposal development, ensuring compliance with funder requirements
- Advise on best practices and strategies for sustainable resource mobilisation
- Support decision making on WHRD-IC resource mobilisation ethics
Organisational processes
- As necessary, participate in coordination meetings with the WHRD-IC Executive Coordinator, Resource Mobilisation Working Group and Executive Committee
- Report to the WHRD-IC Executive Coordinator and contribute to the further planning efforts.

- Strong ability to apply intersectional feminist principles to resource mobilisation
- Integrity, transparency and accountability
- Ability to build trust-based relationships with donors and partners
Essential knowledge and skills
- More than five years of experience in resource mobilisation within a non-profit, gender justice, human rights and/or funding organisation
- Excellent donor and funder management skills
- Well versed with the current funding landscape for womenâs rights, gender equality and justice, and its diversity, including characteristics of different funding sectors
- Established relationships both with key donors for womenâs rights, gender equality and justice, and international and/or regional feminist and womenâs rights organisations and networks.
- Excellent written and verbal communication in English
- Strong attention to detail.
Reporting:
The Resource Mobilisation consultant will report directly to the WHRD-IC Executive Coordinator.

Timeline and contract duration:
Subject to the recruitment process, the contract will be in effect from 5 May to 30 November 2025.
Compensation terms and contract value:
The Resource Mobilisation consultant will receive a daily rate for up to a maximum number of working days mutually agreed upon by the consultant and WHRD-IC, with payments made according to a mutually agreed-upon schedule.
